Anne Taintor Prize Package Giveaway

COMMENTING IS CLOSED. WINNER ANNOUNCED here.

Brought to you by:

Oh, and also by my husband, who generously finances my romp through life.

Just couldn’t miss out on taking him for all he’s got hosting another giveaway. It was so much fun last time! The sheer joy it brought me last week motivated my man’s benevolent spirit again this week. For real. (Dang, he’s yummy!)

It was pretty obvious what it HAD to be, the giveaway.

All things Anne Taintor. Because, ya’ know……….

So, lookie, lookie at what’s up for grabs!

Two books, a journal, a notepad, three magnets, a keychain and two sheets of stickers.

Would I lie to you, dear reader?!

You know you want this one. So do I.

There are four simple rules:

1. Go to Anne’s website and have fun poking around. If you don’t know her, you may be thinking you don’t want to take the time to go, but Listen. To. Me.

If you don’t go, you won’t ever know that you, in fact, LOVE Anne Taintor. You just don’t realize it yet.

I promise, this will be fun.

2. Under the Products menu, click on Find Your Favorite, and peruse Anne’s designs.

3. Then come back and leave a comment telling me which Anne Taintor piece is your favorite by caption. (One contest entry per reader, please.)

4. Promise you’ll come back and read She Just Had To Say It. I’m not above “buying traffic” y’all.

And VOILA – you’ll be entered to win a little bit more than, but, shhh, don’t tell hubby! $50 worth of my favorite Anne Taintor products. (I am happy to pay for shipping to U.S. Residents only. If you are outside the contingent U.S., you may enter, but need to agree to pay shipping costs via Paypal.)

As if this wasn’t enough of a big deal, y’all, Anne Taintor is READING YOUR COMMENTS!!! For real. So brag big on her, girls!

I must say this is MIGHTY BIG OF ME, dear reader. Because it is going to take all of the self-control that I don’t possess to keep from commenting a million times as “Anonymous” just so I can be the one to win the goods. Because, waaaaaaaaaaaah, I want to keep it all for myself.

Seriously, a winner (who won’t be me) will be chosen by a Random Number Generator.

Have at it, Anne Taintor fans.

And just in case you want to enter other Giveaways, click here.

But I wouldn’t know why you would, because nothing tops this prize, y’all.

I’m just sayin’.

I like the ‘domestically disbabled’ but really it was a tough call. They’re all so great in their own little ways.

  2. 2 Awesome Mom April 22, 2008 at 8:29 pm

Funny stuff!!! I love “What muffled screams, Officer?” I am quirky like that.

  3. 3 that girl April 22, 2008 at 8:29 pm

Well it will come as no surprise to YOU but I already own quite a few Taintor things… I just didn’t know she was behind it all! Never saw the site before.

Here’s my pick: ” the secret ingredient was resentment “

  4. 4 Sister Honey Bunch April 22, 2008 at 8:30 pm

Well, my favorite is the flask that says “Ta-da! Now let’s have a cocktail”.

  5. 5 that girl April 22, 2008 at 8:31 pm

whoopsie! this link to my blog WILL work. sorry about that other one.

  6. 6 Karen April 22, 2008 at 8:32 pm

I like the “Because I’m the mother that’s why” item — because I AM the mother!

  7. 7 dotti April 22, 2008 at 8:33 pm

  8. 8 Jane April 22, 2008 at 8:33 pm

  9. 9 Rebecca April 22, 2008 at 8:36 pm

I like the Tada! Now let’s have a cocktail. Love it!

  10. 10 Jackie April 22, 2008 at 8:39 pm

“She thought of him fondly as ‘Plan B’”. So funny! Not that I think of my hubby that way….not at all. :)

  11. 11 julie April 22, 2008 at 8:41 pm

  12. 12 Bonita April 22, 2008 at 9:13 pm

I’d never seen her stuff before, but I’m sold. Oh so funny! I couldn’ t pick just one favorite because they all made me laugh. I guess my top three would be:
    Domestically Disabled (because I am)
Together we’re going to own your grandparents (think I got that right)
True…there were side effects (love all those polka dots!)

  13. 13 Aimee April 22, 2008 at 9:24 pm

I have always loved Anne Taintor’s stuff, but I wasn’t able to put a name to the products until I found YOUR blog so the amazing Anne has you to thank for that! I perused her website and products days ago, before you even suggested it so as you might imagine, I am very excited at the prospect of winning some of her goodies.

The flask with “Born to be Wild” is my favorite product, but my favorite picture and saying has got to be “High Maintenance doesn’t even begin to cover it”. My husband are always telling our boys (ages 5 & 8) to avoid HM (well known abbreviation for high maintenance at our house) girls at all costs when they begin dating! Never hurts to start educating them early.

Our luck, they’ll hook up with a couple of real winners, if ya know what I mean, wink, wink!!

Anne, if you’re reading – I LOVE the section with the model bios. My 97 year old aunt was a spunky spitfire back in her day (actually she still is) and those bios just reminded me so much of her!

  14. 14 Aimee April 22, 2008 at 9:28 pm

BTW – I’ve got your button on my blog now. I tried it the other day and must have goofed something because it didn’t work, but it’s there now!

  15. 15 Headless Mom April 22, 2008 at 9:29 pm

I am newly in love with Anne, myself, and would love to have some of her
stuff. I love all of it (I know that doesn’t exactly qualify…I’ll go on!),
but my actual favorite part of her website was the stories of the women in the
pictures. I loved that some of them were still alive and got a real kick out
    of being in her artwork!

My favorite sayings are : I love not camping, Old enough to know better, young enough…, Medicated and Motivated, and She could see no good reason to act her age.

    So can I enter, please?!

  16. 16 Sarah April 22, 2008 at 9:34 pm

I’ve seen these before, but never realized there were so many. I really liked “file it under ‘who cares’” and “someone called about something.” This humor is perfect for our house. Love it! Thanks for the giveaway!

  17. 17 kristen April 22, 2008 at 9:34 pm

    Wow, what great choices:

    * Think of me as a challenge
    * Domestically Disabled
    and
    * I don’t recall asking your opinion

    were my favorites I think!

  18. 18 Michelle Trost April 22, 2008 at 9:36 pm

OK, it’s a tie! ‘Together WE will own your grandparents” AND “Finally 40″…since I am 7 days away from the big one myself!

  19. 19 Merry April 22, 2008 at 10:02 pm

That was fun! Maybe you should warn your readers not to read these where loud laughter might attract attention–the other coffee shop patrons are giving me strange looks. Anyway, my favorites (can’t pick just one!) are someone was going to have to set a bad example and high maintenance doesn’t even begin to cover it.

  20. 20 lanxi April 22, 2008 at 10:15 pm

Well, it would have to be “Guess where I’m tattooed”. 95% of the people I know would never had guessed that I wanted a tattoo. More fun, more mystery.

  21. 21 Auds at Barking Mad April 22, 2008 at 10:23 pm

I am going to have to come back again because frankly, I can’t choose. They all pretty much make me giggle hysterically when I think of all the (totally innapropriate) places I could wear/use some of that stuff.

Be back later once I’ve narrowed it down!

  22. 22 Rachel Roland April 22, 2008 at 10:26 pm

I love the one that says: “I’m so happy it’s happy hour” That is so me!!!

  23. 23 Kimberly April 22, 2008 at 10:42 pm

I LOVE the retro designs! They are awesome!!!!

I love the one “I dreamed my house was clean” because right now I’m staring at a pile of papers on my desk and the dust bunnies are so big I think they ate my dog!!!!!

  24. 24 Queen B April 22, 2008 at 10:44 pm

Today I am partial to “high maintenance doesn’t begin to cover it”, though it is hard to pass on “why yes, I am overqualified”.

    They are all really funny.

    Great giveaway!!!

  25. 25 Maureen April 22, 2008 at 11:06 pm

I like the “funny, I don’t recall asking for your opinion” ha ha!

  26. 26 Mo April 22, 2008 at 11:11 pm

I like “There was nothing passive about her aggression”, “Yes, but he was her jackass”, “Honey you couldn’t handle half of me”, “Another day in paradise” & “Damn straight I keep score”.

I’d seen her work before around the web, and liked it. She has so many wonderful sayings, and I’d love to win! Thank you for the chance =)

  27. 27 Michelle April 22, 2008 at 11:29 pm

You are right. I needed to take a look for myself. I can’t say that I had heard of Anne (with an “e”) Taintor until this giveaway. I have a friend who would love this stuff. The phrase that would best sum up my life would be “I dreamed my whole house was clean,” but I like the graphic on “Another day in paradise.” I also just love the one that says, “You’ll eat it…you’ll eat it and like it.” So many of these are really funny. I would love to be entered in your giveaway.

  28. 28 Noreen Crone-Findlay April 22, 2008 at 11:34 pm

I love the messenger bag that says: High maintenance doesn’t begin to cover it….
I have a couple of her notebooks and didn’t know it. To know it is to be completely tickled pink! LOL! Thanks! this is great fun!

  29. 29 Jenni April 22, 2008 at 11:39 pm

Oh dear oh dear oh dear I cannot possibly pick a favorite!! “There was nothing passive about HER aggression”? “What muffled screams, officer”? “I love not camping”?

I think “She had no intention of suffering alone” might win by the tiniest hair, however.

My gut is busted from stifling my guffaws; I LOVE Anne Taintor! She is so very irreverant and hilarious. THANK YOU for the fabulous giveaway!

  30. 30 Michelle@Life with Three April 23, 2008 at 12:02 am

Oh! So funny! I love “She was one cocktail away from proving his mother right.” I also like, “Think of me as a challenge.” Thanks for encouraging me to take a look — I’m so glad I did!

  31. 31 Mama Zen April 23, 2008 at 12:12 am

  34. 34 Julie April 23, 2008 at 12:37 am

It was a new place for me, but I had fun perusing the site!!
Two that I can relate to are…
High maintenance doesn’t even begin to cover it
I dreamed my whole house was clean

  35. 35 jes April 23, 2008 at 1:33 am

because I’m the mother, that’s why! although there were a lot of cute ones! thanks for the giveaway!

  36. 36 franticallysimple April 23, 2008 at 1:33 am

Thanks for making me do that! She’s the artist I never knew I loved so much. Totally awesome. :)
I had a hard time deciding on a favorite, but last night’s dinner had more than it’s fair share of whining so I’ll go with: you’ll eat it…you’ll eat it and like it.
Thanks to you (and the Mr.) for such a generous giveaway.

  37. 37 CraftTeaLady April 23, 2008 at 1:39 am

OH wow! I DO, I DO like the Anne Taintor stuff and I didn’t know it! :)

I love the ‘why yes, I am overqualified’ id case and the ‘she had not yet decided whether to use her power for good… or for evil’ messenger bag.

    They both ROCK!

  38. 38 bunnyb April 23, 2008 at 1:42 am

    Enter me, too!

  49. 49 Marilu Mann April 23, 2008 at 5:36 am

My best friend gave me a Taintor calendar for Christmas this past year. I am sad to say that I had NEVER seen her before. My friend told me “I saw this across the store and it screamed “YOU” at me.”

She was so right. I have that calendar at work. I think my favorite is the one of the woman with the dog that say “Deep down she knew she’d settled”. It just cracks me up. My male co-workers aren’t quite sure what to say.

  50. 50 Jenna April 23, 2008 at 5:44 am

“I dreamed my whole desk was clean” fits me quite well. In fact, today I cleared it off and stuck it all in my closet. It can’t actually all stay in there, mind you, but it is taking a break there.

Love this line! I had several LOL moments.

  51. 51 Yard Sale Princess April 23, 2008 at 6:09 am

  53. 53 Kari April 23, 2008 at 12:16 pm

I love them all! They are so fun and hysterical! Although it’s hard to choose only one favorite, I’ll go with – “If by happy you mean trapped with no chance of escape…..” Great website, I’ll definetly be back. Thanks!

  54. 54 Bodhi's Mom April 23, 2008 at 12:35 pm

“I dreamed my whole house was clean.”

“It seemed like such a good idea 12 months ago.”

I really like “I love not camping”.

  88. 88 nottryingforaboy April 24, 2008 at 11:15 pm

I’ve been a fan for a long time. I love her stuff. I belong to a few forums where people use her images as their avatars. They just crack me up and are absolutely PERFECT for how I feel at any given day. This is a great giveaway. Thanks so much!

It is so hard to pick a favorite because they are just all so applicable.

Love this- “she was comforted by the knowledge that they were helpless without her”

I would LOVE to have a calendar, but didn’t see any on the site.

How does Anne know me? I didn’t think I had ever met her but she has written words that have come straight from my mouth.

Especially “High maintenance doesn’t even begin to cover it.”
Thank you for hosting this giveaway.

What a great site. I love remember sweetheart… mommy loves you, but she doesn’t have to like you

  93. 93 meg April 25, 2008 at 2:14 am

“and to think that I’m only using one-tenth of my brain”—LOVE IT.

  94. 94 princessesindisguise April 25, 2008 at 2:40 am

The one I identify with most is “I dreamed my whole house was clean.” Now that would really be a dream for me. I also like, “Another day in paradise.” Third, I like “You’ll like it, you’ll like it and you’ll eat it.” I enjoyed reading about the models who posed for some of these ads.

  95. 95 Naomi April 25, 2008 at 2:50 am

Ooh, “Remember, Sweetheart, mommy has to love you but she doesn’t have to like you” is awesome for my vexing 4 year old…but “Do the words gifted and talented mean anything to you” is more versatile. And so is “She had no intention of suffering alone.” Tough call.

    come enter my giveaways, too…

  104. 104 Shawnee April 25, 2008 at 7:02 am

I have heard of Anne Taintor and I love her work! I love the ones that seem to apply to me the best (so many do though) but I am partial to “medicated and motivated”. Oh please, I know exactly what mother’s little helper really is. :-D

  105. 105 Terra Heck April 25, 2008 at 11:07 am

I have to say I was quite amused by her captions. Very witty.
My fave is “She thought of him fondly as ‘Plan B’”.

  106. 106 robin April 25, 2008 at 11:41 am

I like the “someone called about something”. Sounds like the phone messages I get from my 16yo son!

  107. 107 Suzanne Bastien April 25, 2008 at 12:52 pm

I thought several were funny, but I want to buy the magnet that says “I love not camping!” Oh, my family would KNOW it was me.

  110. 110 Rita A. April 25, 2008 at 3:18 pm

My fav is “it would, of course, have to look like an accident”. That is too funny. Thanks for the link to her site. I just might order some things.

  111. 111 threeofakindblog April 25, 2008 at 3:18 pm

My friends and I pass these around gleefully.. We have “why yes, i a AM overqualified”

    heh

I like, “She had no intention of suffering alone”

    *smirk*

  113. 113 Smellyann April 25, 2008 at 4:12 pm

LOL – These are really great!!! Today I’m liking the “remember sweetheart, mommy loves you but she doesn’t have to like you” magnet! Ohhhhh, so true sometimes. Great giveaway – I’d love to win! Thanks and please enter mine, too! :D

  114. 114 sascha April 25, 2008 at 5:26 pm

It was a tough choice, but I’m going with:

“she was one frozen entree away from a nervous breakdown”

Oh you have no idea how close…..

Thanks for the opportunity to enter your giveaway!

  115. 115 Beth April 25, 2008 at 5:43 pm

Thank you for the awesome giveaway! Anne Taintor rocks! “Make your own damn dinner!” is my number one favorite!

  116. 116 Lisa April 25, 2008 at 5:57 pm

I LOVE Anne Taintor! I used to get the twelve-month calendar every year, but haven’t been able to find it for the past couple of years. I have gobs of the magnets, and I think my favorite of what I already have is “Make your own damn dinner”. That, or “It’s so involved being me”, because my son is blond and blue-eyed like the baby on that one, and that’s totally him to a T.

From the site – it’s a toss-up between “Do the words gifted and talented mean anything to you?” and “Honey, you couldn’t handle half of me” (I need that one on a messenger bag!).

    Great stuff, and great giveaway!

  117. 117 Karin April 25, 2008 at 6:44 pm

    Beautiful stuff…. love it.
One of my faves is: “maybe I want to look cheap” –cosmetic bag.

  118. 118 GoodCents April 25, 2008 at 7:19 pm

That was hard to pick.. I love them all… :) … but after much consideration I’m gonna have to go with Tadaa! Now Let’s Have A Cocktail…

  119. 119 Audrey April 25, 2008 at 7:27 pm

” domestically disabled” is the best because it describes me.

  120. 120 Judith Greenberg April 25, 2008 at 7:46 pm

She has so many great products. My favorite, the magnet with “they made it their strict policy never to err on the side of caution”.

  121. 121 bebemiqui April 25, 2008 at 7:53 pm

“What muffled screams officer” is great. Great giveaway! Count me in. bebemiqui82(at)yahoo(dot)com

  122. 122 Chrysa April 25, 2008 at 7:58 pm

I love SO MANY of these. If I have to choose one I would say “why yes, I am overqualified” Thanks for the fantastic giveaway!

  123. 123 Marsha April 25, 2008 at 8:51 pm

    Loved the site
it’s a hard call between Because I’m the mother or domestically disabled.

    either would be great

Awesome giveaway and thanks for participating. Now I sure hope I win.

  124. 124 jonamie April 25, 2008 at 9:14 pm

her proudest achievement was staying blonde; this is my fav saying. I’ve never seen these products before either.

  128. 128 Jodi B April 26, 2008 at 1:37 am

“what muffled screams, officer?” made me laugh out loud!! So fun! Thanks for the great giveaway!

  129. 129 Besu April 26, 2008 at 1:41 am

I just laughed the hardest I have all day. I think Anne Taintor is describing MY LIFE. My favorite was “if “by happy” you mean trapped with no means of escape…? then yes, I’m happy” but there were several others I also loved. If I don’t win, I’m still going to be buying things from her. Thank you so much for posting this contest so I could discover Anne’s site!

  130. 130 Meg April 26, 2008 at 1:49 am

I just love the caption: “Who want’s mommy’s low-fat snack bar?” I love, love the vintage images. And the type-font that looks like fridge poetry. Everything is so wonderfully kitchy. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
